Most nymph boxes are two sizes too big

Small dark mayfly nymphs make up more of what a trout eats than anything else in the water, and they are considerably smaller than the flies most people tie on. This is a plain, honest imitation of that: nothing clever, just the right shape and colour in the right size. It is the fly to reach for when fish are feeding steadily and refusing everything, which usually means they are on something small. Fish it as the dropper above something heavier.
