Caddis larvae are one of the most abundant things in a trout stream and a green cased grub is what most of them look like. This one earned its name on the Tongariro in New Zealand, where it proved itself in low, clear conditions, and that is still where it is at its best: bright days, thin water, and fish that have time to inspect what drifts past. Fish it on a long leader with as little weight as you can get away with.
