One Step at a Time

Life is like a large exfoliating granite tor or like a big onion. It has many layers. We are born with some, add a few more as we live, and then, when we get older, try to peel them back to understand who we are. In this book the layers are journeys. Journeys back into the fresh innocence of childhood and the anguish of puberty, across snowswept high plains, into sandstone gorges, through forests of pencil pine, down undammed rivers, along wild coasts, and across Europe and into India.

The author Klaus Hueneke has tried to describe the journey with honesty, sympathy for human condition and a sense of wonder about the wilderness from which we all once came.
