Trout catch the damaged ones

A healthy adult damsel is quick enough that a trout mostly wastes its time chasing one. A damaged or egg-laying one is not, and that is the difference this fly is built around. The thorax hangs disjointed below the body, which reads as an insect in trouble and gives a fish a reason to pick this one out of a swarm of blue. Adult damsel patterns will never outfish the nymphs, but this is the one worth carrying.
