SCARPA remains a family owned company, with its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in the same region of northern Italy - where the company began in 1938.

SCARPA were among the first to recognise the needs of Northern Italy’s rapidly developing mountaineering & climbing culture, and to develop a range of footwear with features dedicated to those pursuits. Those features, along with the brand’s reputation for durability and fit led to many of Italy’s early mountaineers using SCARPA shoes.
