Whiting will chase a fleeing prawn to the surface

This is the one fly in the shrimp box you fish on top. Sand whiting hunt prawns hard in the shallows through summer, and a prawn breaking for the surface is something they will cross a flat to catch. The foam body holds the fly up and leaves a small V wake behind it, which is the trigger. Unlike every other shrimp pattern, do not pause it: keep it moving steadily so it never stops looking like something escaping. Best on a rising tide over sand.
