Bob Clouser tied the first of these on the Susquehanna in 1987 with smallmouth bass in mind, and Lefty Kreh gave it the name two years later after catching a famously long list of species on it. The dumbbell eyes are the trick: they flip the hook point up and give the fly a darting, diving action on every strip. Chartreuse is the high-contrast option, the one to tie on for estuary flats, off the rocks and around structure where bream, flathead and Australian salmon are hunting bait.
