More permit than any other fly ever tied

Del Brown and Captain Steve Huff built this in the mid 1980s and it has accounted for more fly-caught permit than anything since, over five hundred to Del Brown himself. The trick is the heavy lead eyes: they make the fly dive claws-up as it sinks, which is exactly what a crab does when it is trying to get away. The yarn body trimmed flat casts far better than it looks like it should. Deadly on trevally, permit and bonefish across sand flats, and it will not be refused by bream or flathead.
