For slow water, where the fish gets a long look

Fast water forces a quick decision and a fish will take something imperfect. Slow water does the opposite: the fly drifts in view for seconds and everything wrong with it has time to register. This one holds up to that scrutiny, which is why it has a reputation on flat, slow pools and spring-fed water. Brown trout in particular seem to like it. Fish it on a long fine leader and keep false casting away from the fish.
