Solid orange is the safest egg colour in the box. It reads close enough to fresh roe for fish looking hard in clear water, and it still holds its visibility once a bit of colour comes into the river. That range is why it earns a spot whatever the run is doing. Fish it dead drift under an indicator, or on a short dropper behind a heavy nymph so it tracks along the gravel where displaced eggs actually travel.
