Red is the traditional tag colour and a more restrained one than pink, which makes this the version for clear water and fish that have seen plenty of pressure. The dark body with a small red point behind it reads as a real insect with a trigger rather than an obvious attractor, so it holds up on water where anything brighter gets refused. Worth carrying alongside the pink rather than instead of it, and worth trying first when the river is low.
