There is a reason this is the pattern most anglers tie on first in unfamiliar water. It is not built to match anything in particular, which is exactly why it works: the scruffy natural body passes for mayfly nymphs, caddis larvae and most of the other small brown things trout eat all day. The gold tungsten bead gets it deep quickly. Barbless. If you carry one nymph in one colour, this is a defensible choice.
