Yabbies are one of the biggest single food items in Australian lakes and slow rivers, and a brown streamer worked along the bottom is a far better imitation of one than most anglers give it credit for. Fish it slowly, in short pulls with pauses, close to the bottom near rocks and weed edges, rather than stripping it like a baitfish. Trout that ignore a swung fly will often come a long way for something that looks like a retreating yabby.
