Down where a booby works, past the point most flies reach, there is very little light left and even less colour. Orange holds its own further into that than most shades, which makes it the searching version: the fly to start with when you are covering unfamiliar water and want a response before you refine anything. Same rig as the rest, a fast sinker and a short leader, and the same long pull and long pause. Swap to black once you have found them.
