CdC comes from a duck's preen gland, and the reason tyers put up with how delicate it is comes down to two things: it traps tiny air bubbles among the barbules, and it lands on the water with almost no weight behind it. That makes this the fly for a fish you have already found and do not want to spook, on flat water where a heavier dry would announce itself. The slender upright wing gives a clean dun silhouette. Keep floatant off the wing and dry it with a false cast rather than a squeeze bottle.
