Few flies have a longer record in Australian fly boxes than this one. It has been catching trout here since long before anyone thought to explain why, it fishes as a dry or just under the surface as a wet, and it goes on when nothing obvious is happening and you need something to start with. There is no hatch it matches. It has simply outlasted almost everything that was supposed to replace it.
