Be sure to keep the tape level, and not too tight. Then use the chart as a guide, but allow for some variance based on how you prefer the garment to fit.
WAIST: Find the top of your hip and measure the full circumference around your body.
INSEAM: Measure the distance from the uppermost part of your inner thigh to your ankle.

The Patagonia Men's Sandy Cay Shorts are 100% recycled, ultralightweight and quick-drying, delivering hardworking, durable comfort on and off the water. Designed for athletic movement while wading everything from bonefish flats to freestone trout streams, they are an ideal multifunctional wading short and just as at home in hot, humid conditions every day. A fixed waistband with zip fly, anti-corrosive button and reinforced belt loops keeps a close, secure fit, while stretch ripstop at the back yoke and gusseted crotch adds freedom of movement. Two front pockets plus a mesh-lined back-right zippered pocket for quick drainage and a left-thigh zippered security pocket keep essentials safe. The 9in inseam runs across all sizes. Made in a Fair Trade Certified factory.
