Six millimetres of grub, and nothing else will do

Willow grubs are sawfly larvae that develop inside the small blisters on willow leaves and drop into the water below through summer, sometimes in enormous numbers. They are tiny, about six millimetres, and when trout are on them they will refuse everything else in the box no matter how well presented. That is the problem this solves. Fish it on a short, stiff tippet so you can flick it in tight under the branches, and expect the take to be a quiet sip.
