Frank Sawyer tied the original with nothing but copper wire and pheasant tail fibres, no thread at all, and it has outfished more complicated flies ever since. This is that fly on a jig hook, where a slotted bead flips the point upward so it rides inverted. It bumps along the bottom without burying itself in it, which means fewer snags, fewer flies lost and far more time actually fishing. A hint of flash at the thorax is the only addition.
