Weighted eyes at the front, and the whole fly undulates

Put the weight in the eyes rather than a bead and something useful happens: the head dips on the pause and lifts on the pull, so the fly rises and falls through the retrieve instead of tracking along in a straight line. Damsel nymphs move exactly like that, in a side-to-side wriggle with the head leading. The extended body carries the shape. Dark olive suits weedy margins in summer. Retrieve in slow draws and let it drop between them.
