A black bead takes the head out of the picture entirely and leaves the ice blue thorax as the only thing on the fly with any colour in it. That single point of contrast on an otherwise dark, natural nymph is a subtle presentation, and it suits clear water and fish that will inspect a fly properly before committing. The quiet one of the three, and the one to finish with.
