Fly Fishing in Victoria Before The NSW Trout Season Opens | Three Days Exploring Rivers Around Omeo

It’s the opening of the Victorian trout season and Pat has headed south to the Omeo region for a few days on the water. The conditions? Wet, windy, and far from ideal. Swollen rivers, dirty water, and fish that weren’t giving in easily.

From soggy campsites to venison burgers by the fire, this trip had its fair share of ups and downs. But persistence pays off—with a couple of beautiful brown trout to close out the trip, including a cracking 1.5lb brownie that made it all worthwhile.

Sometimes the best fishing stories come from the toughest conditions. Tight lines and happy days!
