Solo Bikepacking Jugiong to Tumut | Bikepacking Backroads in the Snowy Mountains

After years of hiking and fly fishing across the Snowy Valleys, it was time to experience the landscape a little differently.

Pat sets off on a simple but rewarding solo bikepacking trip, riding 80km from Jugiong back home to Tumut, following the Murrumbidgee River through rolling farmland, quiet gravel roads and country backroads. It's a journey filled with foggy winter mornings, incredible lookouts and the kind of scenery that makes you appreciate slowing down.

With an overnight camp beside the river—and of course a fly rod packed just in case—this is less about pushing limits and more about enjoying the journey, a reminder that adventure doesn't have to be far from your own backyard.
