Shape sinks a fly as much as weight does

Weight is the obvious way to sink a nymph and shape is the overlooked one. A smooth bullet-shaped body carries far less drag through moving water than a bulky, hairy fly of the same weight, so it cuts down through a fast run instead of being pushed along the top of it. Add a tungsten bead to that and it gets to the bottom quickly and stays there. It is built to go on the point of a two nymph rig and take the whole thing down.
