Fish that follow a damsel pattern and turn away are usually telling you it is too much fly rather than the wrong one. This is the answer to that: the same silhouette stripped back to something far slimmer and more mobile, which is often all that is needed to convert a follow into a take. It works around weed beds through summer where damsel nymphs are thick. Carry it alongside a fuller version rather than instead of one.
