Gold is the loud end of the range. It throws the most light of the three beads and it earns that in deep runs, coloured water and the dull flat light where a dark fly simply is not found. The maker's own rule across the range is black for stealth and bright for attraction, and this is the bright one. Fish it as the point fly when you need something a trout can locate from a distance.
