Bikepacking Blowering Dam | Solo Bikepacking Talbingo to Tumut in Australia's Snowy Mountains

Living in Tumut means Blowering Dam is right on our doorstep. As one of the largest dams in NSW, it's a massive expanse of water to admire while driving past, offering ever-changing views and countless bays and points, but Pat was seeking a trip offering a different, slower point of view of Blowering Dam instead of flying past it in the comfort of the car.

Join Pat on his first-ever solo bike packing mission, riding the full western side of Blowering Dam from Talbingo to Tumut over two days. Gravel roads, fire trails, single track, hidden bays, epic mountain views, wildlife encounters, swimming spots, summer heat, storms, and a whole lot of pedalling.

Bike packing has a funny way of changing how you see a place. When you spend days looking at the same landscape instead of seconds, everything feels different. This trip was all about that — slowing down, soaking it in, and appreciating just how special this part of the Snowy Mountains really is.
