Osprey One Size Pack Fit Guide

This Pack Comes In One Size

Rather than choosing a size, you adjust this pack to fit you. The harness slides to match your torso length and the hipbelt adjusts around your hips, so a single pack covers a wide range of body shapes.

What you need to check is that your torso length falls inside the pack's range. That range is listed as Torso Fit in the Dimensions table on the product page. Measure your torso using the steps below, then compare.

Torso Length/Sizing

Osprey pack fit is based on torso length, not height. To determine your torso measurement, follow these simple steps.

1. Find iliac crest (Top of hip bone)

2. On the back of the neck find C7 vertebra - Touch your chin to your chest and feel for the large protruding bone at the base of your neck

3. Measure from C7 vertebra to the iliac crest to determine your torso length

Hipbelt Sizing

To determine hipbelt fit, measure around your hips at the iliac crest, not your waist. The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 7 - 15cm (3 - 6") between the tips of both hip pads when securely tightened.

Fitting Your Pack

1. Loosen every strap, then load the pack with about 10kg so it sits as it will on the trail.

2. Settle the hipbelt over the top of your hip bones and do it up firmly. The belt carries most of the weight, not your shoulders.

3. Tighten the shoulder straps. The harness yoke should sit 2.5 - 5cm (1 - 2") below your C7 vertebra, wrapping your shoulders with no gap.

4. Fasten the sternum strap about 2.5cm (1") below your collarbone and snug it lightly - it should not pull the shoulder straps inward.

5. Pull the load lifters at the top of the shoulder straps until they sit at roughly 45 degrees.

Not Sitting Right?

If the harness will not sit within 5cm of your C7 vertebra at either end of its adjustment, the pack is the wrong length for you. Come and see us in store and we will find one that fits.
