French leader nymphing is a long, fine leader, no indicator, and a coloured sighter section you watch instead of the line. It asks for flies that are slim and heavy enough to hang straight below the sighter without dragging it around, and this is one of them. The red butt is the trigger, and it earns its keep in murky water where a fish needs one clear point to aim at. Fish it on either the point or the dropper.
