Jigging a fly properly means knowing where it is and when it drops, and that is much easier when you can see it. White stays visible a surprising way down, so you can time the lift, judge the depth and watch a fish turn on it before you feel anything. That makes it the version to fish when you are learning the retrieve, or working water where the take is subtle. Same jig hook and marabou tail as the others, riding point up over the bottom.
